CELEBRATING 30 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY
The Police Amateur Athletic Foundation (PAAF) was founded in 1978 and incorporated in 1980. This non-profit corporation was organized for the purpose of providing support for amateur athletics and athletic events in which San Jose Police Officers compete with the general public, thereby generating a greater person-to-person contact between police officers and the San Jose community they serve. PAAF’s membership includes over 500 San Jose Police Officers and non-sworn personnel and is overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors.
Over the past 20 years, PAAF has
donated over $800,000 to various
local charities. These charities
include the East Valley Family YMCA,
San Jose Police Activities League (
PAL ), Wish Upon A Star, Abrazos and
Books, Special Olympics, the Boys
and Girls Club of San Jose, the
Central Coast Section ( CCS )
Scholarship Program, the San Jose
Fire Department Burn Foundation, the
Hershey’s City Wide Track and Field
Meet, the San Jose High School
Football Program, the San Jose
Police Chaplaincy Program and the
San Jose Giants Community Fund. The
funds have been raised through
membership dues, corporate donations
and through various sporting events
we host. Over the years, PAAF has
hosted the Simpson / Silva Memorial
Basketball Classic, the San Jose
Police Memorial Softball Classic,
The Caldarulo Cup / Memorial Hockey
Classic and the Annual PAAF Charity
Golf Tournament.
Since 2002, PAAF has been a major
sponsor of several local events.
These events include the City Wide
Hershey’s Track & Field Meet, the
Law Enforcement Torch Run and the
Annual PAAF Toy Giveaway. PAAF’s
sponsorship of these events have
made it possible for thousands of
children to participate in these
events free of charge. Some of the
children would not have been able to
participate without our help.
PAAF was honored to have been
selected as the host organization
for the 2001 California Police &
Fire Games. This event is the third
largest event in the world with over
5,000 participants in over 60
events.
