President
Officer Andy Trevino (retired)
I started my law enforcement career
with the San Jose Police Department
in July of 1980 and retired in
August 2005. I worked patrol, the
FTO program, Missing Persons Unit,
PAL and Community Services. I have
participated in the California
Police and Fire Games since 1981. I
have competed in basketball and
softball in the California Games and
the World Police and Fire Games and
have won medals at both events. I
have also coached PAL baseball and
coached the SJPD basketball team and
an SJPD softball team. I was also
the Executive Director of the 2001
California Police and Fire Games
when PAAF and the San Jose Police
Department hosted the Games. I have
been on the PAAF board since 1983. I
was elected president in 1991 and
served until 2005. I served as Chief
Financial Officer from 2005 until
2008 when I was reappointed
president.
Vice-President
Sergeant Paul Woo
I have worked for the San Jose
Police Department since 1988 and am
currently a motor sergeant. Before
being hired by SJPD, I was an
officer with the San Jose State
University Police Department. I have
been active in sports throughout my
lifetime. While in college at San
Jose State, I was a member of the
Men’s Intercollegiate Bowling Team.
In addition to bowling, I have
played on a men’s senior baseball
team for the past 12 years. Since
1988, I have competed in baseball,
softball and bowling at the
California Police and Fire Games. I
have also coached in Little League
and am currently a district staff
umpire. I have served on the PAAF
board since 1999 and have held the
title of Vice-President since 2005.

Officer Dave Gonzales
I have been a San Jose police
officer since 1985. I was a Santa
Clara County Deputy Sheriff for one
year before that. I have worked
patrol, School Liaison Unit,
Juvenile Unit, PAL and the airport.
While in high school, I participated
in football and baseball. I have
competed in softball and racquetball
in the California Police and Fire
Games, receiving a gold medal in
mixed doubles. I have been on the
PAAF Board since 2001.
Secretary
Officer Jessica Welker
I have been a San Jose police
officer since 2001. I have worked
patrol, Family Violence Unit and Day
Detective. I have also been a
physical training instructor at the
police academy since 2002. I am an
avid runner and ran track in high
school and college. I have competed
in many local races and have
completed three marathons. I have
participated in the California
Police and Fire Games since 2002 and
have won several medals in running
events. I have been on the PAAF
board since 2006.

Sergeant Jim Spence (retired)
I have been with the San Jose Police
Department since 1969. During this
time, I have competed in the
California Police and Fire Games and
the Police Winter Games. I have
participated in soccer, basketball,
volleyball, fast pitch softball,
decathlon, water polo, slow pitch
softball, roller hockey being
awarded over 30 medals. I have also
been a part of many fundraising
efforts.
I have been on the PAAF board since
2001.

Sergeant Cynthia Cooke
I have been a San Jose police
officer since 1986. My commitment to
sports and their benefits began with
the passage of Title IX in 1972. I
played in the inaugural season of
gender integrated Little League
baseball. I earned a basketball
scholarship and a starting spot on
the UC Berkeley basketball team. I
have coached youth sports teams, run
basketball camps and have been on
the Board of Directors of another
sports related non-profit
organization. I have competed in the
California Police and Fire Games in
softball, basketball and tug-of-war.

Officer Mark Hernandez
I have been a San Jose police
officer since 2001. I was a reserve
police officer with the San Jose
Police Department for five years
before being hired full time in
2001. I have worked patrol since
2001 and worked three years with the
K-9 Unit while a reserve. I have
competed in softball and moto-cross
in the California Police and Fire
Games. I have been on the PAAF board
since 2005.

Officer Jason Pierce
I have been a San Jose police
officer since 1985. I have worked
patrol, Metro Unit and Community
Services. I was also vice-president
of the California State Crime
Stoppers. I participated in
football, basketball and baseball
during high school. I also competed
in football at Santa Clara
University and Cal Poly. I have been
the head football coach at San Jose
High Academy for since 2006. I have
competed in football, basketball and
softball in the California Police
and Fire Games. I have been on the
PAAF board since 2004.
Director
Sergeant Todd Cleaver
I have been with the San Jose Police
Department since 1993. As an
officer, I worked patrol, the FTO
program, and Motors. In 2001, I was
promoted to Sergeant. As a Sergeant,
I have worked patrol and the Special
Operations Division as a supervisor
in the Metro Unit. I enjoy ice
hockey, wake boarding, swimming and
snowboarding. I am also the captain
of the police hockey team
participating in the California
Police and Fire Games. I have also
been the lead force in the
organization of the Caldarulo Cup
Charity Hockey Game. I have been on
the PAAF board since 2007.
